Pope Approves New Regulations for the Cost of Catholic Sainthood

Saint-600After looking into allegations of financial abuse in the Church’s complicated sainthood process, Pope Francis imposed new accountability regulations. Two recent books suggested there was little oversight of how money donated to investigate sainthood causes was actually spent. Many have criticized the process as favoring candidates from wealthy countries. The new reforms are intended to provide more open accounting.
