Pope Francis Focuses on Refugees during Holy Week

04-Pope-600This Holy Week for Western Christians, Pope Francis has put special focus on the plight of refugees. On Palm Sunday, he urged the world not to be indifferent to the desperate situations that many refugees face. In the traditional Holy Thursday service, Francis washed the feet of several refugees, including three Orthodox women from Eritrea, four Nigerian Catholics, a Hindu man, and Muslim men from Syria, Pakistan, and Mali. The Vatican said the gesture was meant to restore the refugees’ human dignity.
