Pope Francis Hears Teenaged Confessions in St. Peter’s Square

04-600Pope Francis has given sixteen teenagers the unexpected opportunity to confess their sins. Youths ranging in age from 13 to 16 sat face-to-face with the pontiff in St. Peter’s Square. The pope spent more than an hour with them. The pope also told the young people that happiness can’t be downloaded like a cellphone app and that being out of touch with God is like being somewhere there’s no cellphone reception. The teenagers were visiting the Vatican as part of a special three-day event related to Francis’s jubilee Year of Mercy.
