Pope Francis Holds Special Mass for Prisoners

04-600Pope Francis held a special Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica for 1,000 prisoners, telling them that all people have made mistakes. Francis urged the prisoners to never give up hope in God’s mercy. He also called on political leaders to improve jail conditions and respect the dignity of inmates, offering them amnesty whenever possible. The Mass was part of the Vatican’s Holy Year of Mercy, which ends later this month.
