On Wednesday (June 10), Pope Francis met with Russian president Vladimir Putin to discuss the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. During their 50-minute closed-door meeting, the pope urged Putin to restore dialogue and make a “sincere” effort to achieve peace in the region. They also discussed their mutual concerns about the persecution of Christians in the Middle East.
