Pope Francis Meets in Vatican City with Palestinian President Abbas

05-600At the Vatican, Pope Francis welcomed Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Abbas officially opened the Palestinian embassy in Vatican City. The Palestinian leader also warned that prospects for peace in the Middle East will suffer if Trump keeps his promise to move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. After the meeting, the Vatican called for direct negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians.
