Pope Names New Cardinals, Including Three from US

03-600Last week Francis named 17 new cardinals, including 13 who are under 80 years old and eligible to succeed him one day. Among those selected were three from the US: Archbishop Blasé Cupich of Chicago, Archbishop Joseph William Tobin of Indianapolis, and Bishop Kevin Joseph Farrell. Experts say those chosen have views that align with the pope’s vision for a more moderate Catholic church.
