Pope Francis Observes One-Year Anniversary of His Election

pope-survey-HEAD-smThursday was the one-year anniversary of the election of Pope Francis. Catholics across the spectrum released assessments of how he has changed the papacy. Many praised Francis for bringing new attention and excitement to the church. Others said he has inspired growing numbers of men to explore becoming priests. But some also offered criticism. Victims’ rights advocates urged him to take stronger actions on behalf of those abused by priests. Francis marked the day with a simple tweet which said “pray for me.” He spent this week on a Lenten retreat outside of Rome. Meanwhile, the Vatican announced that he will travel to South Korea in August.
