Pope Receives German Lutheran Pilgrims at the Vatican, Urges Unity with Catholics

03-600Pope Francis welcomed to the Vatican 1,000 Lutherans from Germany on an ecumenical pilgrimage and urged them to set aside doctrinal differences. He asked that they work with Catholics to care for the poor, the sick, and refugees. Francis plans to participate in an ecumenical service in Sweden later this month with the Lutheran World Federation. He will help commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation.
