This has been a common theme of his papacy. Earlier this week, Francis urged a global wave of prayer to end hunger by 2025. On Tuesday (December 10), people around the world held prayer events at noon their local time as part of the campaign. In Washington, interfaith leaders gathered in the Capitol and prayed that US policies would help the poor and vulnerable. Francis’s popularity continues to soar. This week he was named Time magazine’s Person of the Year.
