President Obama Pushes for Gay Rights in Immigration Reform

samesex-marriageAs faith groups continue to push for comprehensive immigration reform, some are now raising concerns over President Obama’s support for same-sex couples in his plan. The president wants to give same-sex couples the same rights as heterosexual couples, including the right to sponsor a partner for a visa. In a letter to the White House this week, the US Catholic bishops and some evangelicals objected to Obama’s proposal. They are otherwise strong supporters of immigration reform.
