President Obama Speaks of Human Rights and Religious Freedom in Cuba

03-Obama-600During his visit to Cuba this past week, President Obama thanked religious leaders, including Pope Francis, for the part they played in urging normalized relations between the US and Cuba. In his speech, broadcast live throughout the island, Obama emphasized the importance of human rights, including religious freedom:

President Obama: “I believe that every person should have the freedom to practice their faith peacefully and publicly. And yes, I believe voters should be able to choose their governments in free and democratic elections.”
