Many religious groups held special services to mark the one-year anniversary of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, which killed 20 students and six adults. At the Lutheran Church of the Reformation in Washington, Newtown families, clergy, and community leaders honored the victims and vowed to continue working for stronger gun control laws. Since the Newtown tragedy, a coalition called Faiths United to Prevent Gun Violence has been mobilizing at the state and national levels.
