Religious Groups Respond to Iran Nuclear Deal

A possible nuclear deal with Iran was high on the agenda as Secretary of State John Kerry and leaders from the top industrial nations met in Germany. US religious groups continue issuing reactions to the tentative agreement hammered out earlier this month. The US Catholic bishops this week welcomed the agreement as a step toward peace and urged Congress not to undermine negotiations. But other faith groups have been raising concerns. Jewish leaders from a variety of political perspectives questioned whether the potential deal would ensure that Iran does not obtain nuclear weapons.
