Religious Leaders Condemn Easter Suicide Bombing in Lahore

07-Lahore-600Leaders of the Christian minority in Pakistan are demanding more government protection in the wake of Sunday’s suicide bombing (March 27) that targeted their community. A Taliban splinter group claimed responsibility for the attack at a public park where Christians had gathered to celebrate Easter. More than 70 people were killed, almost half of them children. Hundreds of others were injured. Most of the victims were Muslims. American Christian, Jewish, and Muslim groups were among those condemning the attack. At the Vatican, Pope Francis called it “vile” and “cowardly.” He prayed that God would “stop the hands of the violent.”
