Religious Leaders Pray and Advocate for Sentencing Reform

07-600A wide array of religious leaders joined forces to push for a new bill that would reform harsh sentencing guidelines. They gathered together on the U.S. Capitol’s lawn to hold a prayer vigil and to ask for swift action by Congress. Advocates of the bill say the measure has been before the Senate since October, but legislators have delayed taking any action:

Jonah Pesner, director of Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism: Our political act of courage today as we walk the halls of Congress is to say “Senator, Representative, we are people of faith and we call upon you to join us in prayer.”
