According to a new report by the Pew Research Center, black Protestants are much more likely than other Christians to hear their clergy speak for or against a presidential candidate. In a survey of more than 4,000 adults, researchers found that 3 in 10 black Protestant churchgoers have heard their clergy speak directly in support of or against a presidential candidate. For Catholics, white evangelical Protestants, and other Christians, the number is 1 in 10 or fewer. Black Protestant clergy who did speak out were more likely to support Democrat Hillary Clinton and oppose Republican Donald Trump.
