Retired Pope Benedict XVI Reflects on Papacy, Pope Francis

Pope Benedict XVIExcerpts of retired Pope Benedict XVI’s new book, “The Last Conversations,” have been published in an Italian newspaper and a German weekly. In the book, Benedict acknowledges that governing the Catholic Church was not his strong suit but says he doesn’t consider his papacy a failure. Benedict also says he was shocked and a little uncertain when his successor, Pope Francis, was first named but that he has since been very pleased with Francis’s papacy.
