Report: Majority of Americans Know Nothing about Sikh Americans

sikh-report-320

A study made public this week confirms that most Americans don’t know much about Sikhs, even though they make up the fifth largest organized religion in the world. The National Sikh Campaign and Hart Research Associates said more than 60 percent of non-Asian-Americans said they know little to nothing about Sikhs, and only 11 percent of respondents correctly identified a photo of a Sikh man wearing a turban. The vast majority confused him with a Muslim, Hindu, or someone from the Middle East.
