President Trump signed a document this week (January 24) that cleared the way for the government to reconsider the construction of the controversial Keystone pipeline. Obama had rejected the 1,100-mile pipeline in 2015. Trump also called for expediting the construction of the Dakota Access pipeline. Native American and religious groups had vigorously protested the construction of that pipeline because it would threaten water supplies and holy sites. The Army Corp of Engineers had announced it would look for an alternative route last month.
