U.S. Nuns Criticized by the Vatican

nuns-HEAD-smThe Vatican’s chief of doctrine accused the largest umbrella group of US nuns of not cooperating with disciplinary measures imposed in 2012. In unusually blunt language, the official specifically criticized the Leadership Conference of Women Religious or LCWR for selecting conference speakers and honoring a feminist theologian who the Vatican believes advance grave doctrinal errors. The LCWR said it is committed to dialogue but that the nuns “do not recognize ourselves in the doctrinal assessment.”
