Jewish Mayor Shot in Ukraine; Pope and Patriarch Renew Calls for Peace

Gennady Kerenes, mayor of Ukraine’s second largest city, was flown to Israel for treatment. At the Vatican, Pope Francis renewed calls for dialogue during a meeting with Ukraine’s prime minister. And in Moscow, Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill urged church leaders not to take sides in the crisis in order to better advocate for peace.
