UN Appeals for Record $22.2 Billion in Global Aid

06-600The United Nations has issued its annual appeal for humanitarian funds for the coming year, and it’s a record request: $22.2 billion. That’s a 400 percent increase from the amount requested 10 years ago. Humanitarian officials say it’s needed because of the many protracted crises in places such as Syria, Iraq, and South Sudan.
