Religious Groups Join Climate Justice March

climate-march-NEWS-smThere was a strong faith-based contingent as hundreds of thousands of activists took to the streets of New York for the People’s Climate March. They urged the international community to take stronger actions to protect the environment. Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Sikh, and Hindu groups were all represented with prayers, banners, and even a float shaped like Noah’s Ark. Religious participants said addressing climate change is a moral and religious obligation:

Rabbi Lawrence Troster, GreenFaith: “All people of faith agree that protecting creation is an essential part of what we believe, that although God created this wonderful world, it’s not up to us to destroy it, but rather to protect it.”
