UN Report: Staggering Civilian Death Toll in Iraq

Iraq-600A new report from the United Nations says nearly 19,000 Iraqi civilians have died and more than three million have fled their homes over a 22-month period. Fighting between the terrorist group ISIS, Iraqi security forces, and pro-government militias between January 2014 and October 2015 led to the high death toll. The report also estimates that ISIS is holding approximately 3,500 Iraqis as slaves, mostly women and children from the country’s Yazidi religious minority, and some of whom are being sold as sex slaves.
