United Methodists Meet to Discuss Sexuality

04-600The United Methodist Church, the second largest Protestant denomination in the US, is holding its General Conference in Portland, Oregon, beginning May 10. On the eve of the meeting, 15 United Methodist clergy and clergy candidates have come out as gay. The announcement comes just before church representatives are expected to consider new rules allowing clergy to be openly gay and to perform same-sex weddings. Currently, church rules prohibit both.
