US Catholic bishops from around the country met in Baltimore and released a revised election-year guide. It stresses a moral imperative to evaluate candidates based on their positions on gay marriage and abortion. Although the guide addresses a wide range of issues, some bishops expressed disappointment that the document, called “Faithful Citizenship,” failed to follow in the steps of Pope Francis by giving greater emphasis to issues such as the environment and poverty. The bishops have released a voting guide before every presidential election for almost forty years.
