There was a happy ending story this week in Paris. An auction house put up for sale 24 ceremonial masks from the American Hopi and Apache tribes. The Native Americans argued that the masks were sacred, and to sell them would be blasphemy. But the auction went ahead and an unknown bidder bought the lot for $530,000. But then the Annenberg Foundation of Los Angeles said it was the anonymous buyer, and it will return all the masks to the tribes.
