Republican presidential candidates are continuing efforts to recruit conservative evangelical voters. Many of the GOP hopefuls spoke at last weekend’s annual Values Voter Summit (September 25-27) in Washington. For the third year in a row, Texas Senator Ted Cruz won a straw poll as the attendees’ top pick for president. Ben Carson came in second, followed by Mike Huckabee, Senator Marco Rubio, and in fifth place, Donald Trump. On Monday, Trump had a private meeting in New York City with conservative religious leaders who prayed for him. Video of the prayer was posted on YouTube.
