Vatican Summit Takes On Human Trafficking

07-600At a Vatican summit this week (June 3-4), Pope Francis pledged to help victims of human trafficking and modern-day slavery. The pope signed a 10-point declaration that referred to forced labor, prostitution, and the trafficking of organs as “crimes against humanity.” The declaration emphasized that such crimes should be prosecuted and punished. It also promised to better support victims. Judges, prosecutors, and other public officials joined Francis in signing the declaration.
