Fighting continued in Syria, where civilians prayed for an end to the two-year conflict. Meanwhile, Syrian friends of a prominent Italian priest, Father Paolo Dall’Oglio, confirmed that he had been abducted inside Syria more than a week ago. The internationally known priest went missing as he tried to mediate a rift between Kurds and Islamists. There were widespread calls for his release. There were also renewed calls for the release of two Orthodox archbishops who were kidnapped in Syria more than 100 days ago. There has been no information about their whereabouts, and church leaders say they are frustrated by the lack of international attention.
