Violence in South Sudan Leaves Thousands Displaced

04-600Almost five years since South Sudan declared independence from Sudan, new fighting there has left hundreds dead and more than 30,000 displaced. South Sudan has been trying to emerge from a civil war caused by a political rivalry and deep ethnic divides. Tens of thousands of people have been killed since 2013. Several aid groups have been forced to evacuate staff, even as civilians need emergency food and aid. South Sudanese church leaders have condemned the rise in violence.
