Amid ongoing violence between Israelis and Palestinians, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has insisted there is no plan to change the status quo at the Jerusalem holy site that Jews call the Temple Mount and Muslims call the Noble Sanctuary. In a new video, Netanyahu also denied any intention to divide the site. Under a decades-old agreement, Jews may visit the compound, but not pray there. Some Jewish activists have been pushing for the right to pray. Rumors that Israel intended to change the status quo set off weeks of violence. After meetings last week with Secretary of State John Kerry, Israeli and Palestinian leaders agreed to a plan to install surveillance cameras at the holy site. Kerry said he hopes that will help diffuse tensions.
