1. ‘Plague Pit’ Discovered at Liverpool Street
Archaeologists unearthed about 30 human remains at Liverpool Street, where a new station serving the London Crossrail line is being build. The remains were buried en masse and which may mean these were victims of the Great Plague from 1665. The skeletons will be analyzed by the Museum of London Archaeology. Read more at BBC.

2. World War II-Era Bomb Discovered in Basement in London
After a yard-long bomb was discovered at a construction site in Bethnal Green, London, hundreds who lived inside its blast radius were evacuated. During the Blitz, German planes dropped nearly 30,000 bombs on London in just three months. Read more at NPR.

3. The Tomb of Queen Nefertiti Found?
For decades, archaeologists have speculated on the location of the remains of Nefertiti, an Egyptian queen and the Great Royal Wife of Akhenaten. She is the last royal mummy missing from the dynasty of the famous King Tutankhamun. New research suggests her secret tomb could be hidden in King Tut’s tomb. Read more at The Washington Post.

4. The Fate of the Roanoke Colonists Discovered?
Archaeological finds in North Carolina may provide clues to the fate of some of the Roanoke colonists missing since the 1500s. Read more at The New York Times.

5. Warrior Princess Skelton Found in Kazakhstan
The perfectly preserved remains of an ancient female warrior with a huge sword and dagger have been discovered in South Kazakhstan. Archaeologists believe the woman lived in the period between the 11th century BC and fourth century AD. No records had ever been found of woman warriors in the area. Read more at The Telegraph.
