1. Ancient Roman Tavern Unearthed
A roughly 2,100-year-old Roman tavern was discovered in the ancient port of Lattara, an archaeological site near the modern city of Montpellier, southern France. 2. A Hiker Found a Rare 2,000-Year-Old Gold Coin in Israel
Laurie Rimon discovered a shiny object while hiking in eastern Galilee, not far from the biblical site where it’s written that Jesus walked on water and performed the miracle of the multiplication of the fish and bread. 5. Scans of King Tut’s Tomb Reveal Hidden Chambers
Egypt’s Antiquities Minister Mamdouh al-Damaty said that radar scans of King Tut’s tomb have revealed two spaces on the north and east chambers of the pharaonic mausoleum that could contain the “discovery of the century.” King Tutankhamun was an Egyptian pharaoh who rose to power in 1,333 B.C. at age of 10.
