More than 100 years after the vessel — dated 70-60BC — was first identified by Greek sponge divers, new archaeological investigations have recovered tableware, ship components, and a giant bronze spear. Read more at BBC.
2. Inca Remains Found in Peru
Archaeologists in Peru have discovered important remains in Hatun Xauxa, south of the city of Jauja, in the central Andean region of Junin. “These findings allow us to gauge the religious importance and the complex nature of activities in the ushnu of Hatun Xauxa, — reflected also in the constant changes in its architecture.” Read more at IBNLive.
3. Some Things Never Change
Archaeologists have discovered what could be a prehistoric barbeque pit, used by large bands of hunters, at the Prastio-Mesorotsos site in the Paphos district in Cyprus. The earliest deposits on the site date back to the Pre-Pottery Neolithic period – around 8000 BC to 7000 BC – and revealed storage pits and food preparation areas. Read more at CyprusMail.
