World Links: Pakistani Military in Buner, 7/7 Suspects Cleared in the U.K.

Pakistan launches a major military operation in the district of Buner, which was taken over by Taliban militants last week.

Three British citizens are cleared of helping to plot the coordinated train and bus bombings that killed 52 people in London on July 7th, 2005. Two of the three are convicted of a second charge of conspiring to attend a terrorist training camp in Pakistan, and will be sentenced tomorrow.

The World Health Organization raises the level of pandemic alert from 3 to 4 as cases of swine flu are confirmed in seven countries, meaning that the likelihood of a pandemic has increased but is not inevitable.

Iranian-American journalist Roxana Saberi, imprisoned in Iran, grows weak after seven days of hunger strike. A spokesman for Iran’s judiciary says that Saberi is not on a hunger strike, and is in good health.
