Each week, we feature a worthy citizen science project or nature news segment from around the nation. This week, as we search for projects to do from home, we bring you Elephants For Africa, part of Snapshot Safari.
Elephants for Africa (EFA) hopes to help elephant conservation efforts through education and research. As part of Snapshot Safari, which focuses on the diversity and dynamics of wildlife populations across Africa, EFA encourages participants to spot male elephants (or bulls) via camera traps placed in the African Savannah. The scientists identify individual elephants by notch patterns on their ears and by their tusks, and study the group dynamic of the mostly male social groups in the area. Start classifying HERE!
