Filmmaker Joe Pontecorvo has trouble turning off the camera when there are bears to be filmed.
Joe: “During this time we were based off a boat anchored in the bay. The skiff has to pick us up at high tide, and with enough light or we would be stranded. But it’s always difficult to leave, because you never know what might happen next, especially with bears around. You can wait for hours and nothing will happen, and then in an instant, everything will change. It’s one of the things that makes filming wildlife so addictive. Its better then any extreme sport I know, because when your heart is pounding, you know you’ve got something that will stay with you long after the event is over.”
